This Fall, Akademiks introduces Nine Days, a collection
devoted to the spirit of individuality and freedom. Nine Days
represents the power of the individual. The story of Little
George is not often heard, but when told reminds us to
challenge stereotypes, labels, and limitations.
The Akademiks’ mission is to inspire and lead today’s youths,
to challenge social boundaries through a fashionable
aesthetic that promotes the individual. Creative Director and
founder Donwan Harrell, a fixture in the denim industry
having founded both Akademiks and luxury denim company
PRPS, viewed the ten‐year anniversary of Akademiks as a
chance to recapture the organic energy that initially fueled
him to launch the brand.
“With Nine Days, our goal was to create a directional
collection to challenge the demands that pop culture imposes
on today’s youth,” said Harrell. “The name Nine Days is
inspired by a group of individuals who fought for justice and
peacefully succeeded. Slave to no one, their message has
resonated over time.”
Nine Days appeals to the denim enthusiast who seeks fine
quality, and forward thinking designs and silhouettes.
